Our historyA farmstead with tradition and heart

As soon as you step foot on our farmstead in Rodeneck, you’ll sense its special history. The Ahner Berghof has been family-owned and operated for centuries, and every generation has made its contribution to preserving and continuing its unique heritage. Our ancestors labored hard to earn their living. They not only helped shape this landscape, but also to strengthen our culture and traditions. Their labors and indomitable spirit can still be felt here.

The first documented mention of the name “Ahner” was in 1608. Building rights were acquired by the then-owner (a woman) in 1624, at which time the Ahner was officially mentioned as such and the property described. At that time, the farmstead also encompassed a mill – which was still under the control of the St. Clare Monastery (Ladies of Poor Clare) in Brixen. The corresponding tithes were paid into a parish widow’s fund.

Evolution from a refreshment stop to a traditional farmstead

The surname “Faller” – which our grandparents still bore – has shown up in our family tree since the year 1737. In the following centuries, big families with lots of children dominated the history of our farmstead.

In 1963, the construction of an access road marked the beginning of a new chapter: After extensive renovations, our grandparents established the foundation for vacationing on the farmstead, and opened a refreshment stop in Rodeneck which soon developed into a popular leisure-time destination. Vacationers, too, would find lodgings here on their journey to Lüsen.

Today, we look back with pride and respect on the long history of our farmstead. We are keenly aware of our roots, and wish to continue our ancestors’ work with dedication and care. In doing so, we are committed to preserving to the legacy we have received from our ancestors and carrying it into the future.
